ABOUT US

We feel like the most important part of a studio is vibe. Big Dog Recordings’ live room is designed like one big living room that just so happens to have great acoustics and lots of toys for you to play with, making you as comfortable and creative as possible. We deliberately put no window from the live room to the control room, just to make you feel like you’re not being watched as you perform your (p)art.

Make no mistake, we’re gearheads. We just feel that what you play and how you play it is step one. What cool mic and preamp we use to capture it is step two.

If you are a gearhead as well, I suggest you head over to the gear section and check that out.

Whether you are a singer songwriter, hip-hop artist, metal head, you name it; you are most welcome. We love all kinds of music!

Depending on the project we can decide how we move forward with the recording process, whether it’s recording a live session or overdubbing millions of guitars and drums… everything is possible.

If you are interested in recording at our little slice of heaven, give us a call or an email with details about the project and we’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse. No horseheads, promise.

THE TEAM

Mic
Tim van Doorn Raised on oatmeal and punkrock.

Tim van Doorn was raised on oatmeal and punkrock. After ten+ years in his own punkband Clueless, he released an acoustic solo record on which he played most of the instruments himself, while having the record mixed by Ken Stringfellow, Guido Aalbers and… himself. Last year he moved to Antwerp where he decided to start Big Dog Recordings after having recorded mostly out of his attic in Enschede, The Netherlands. His favorite thing in the world is a good song. Need some sweet vocal lines? A little sweet topping for your own tunes? This guy.

    Thomas Meeuwis Vintage collector

Thomas Meeuwis is our in-house musician and vintage collector. Dude loves old shit. There is one thing he loves more and that’s playing music on them. On the road, in the studio, at your mom’s place… Whether it’s guitar, bass, backing vox, keys, drums; you need it, but can’t play it? We’ll suggest calling him, if he’s not behind you on the couch already putting a bigsby on something.

      Bram Dewachter Engineering chops

Bram Dewachter learned his engineering chops at the Void. A place where loud, fast and heavy music gets recorded even louder, faster and heavier in the analogue domain. After that he worked as a freelance recording engineer at excess studios in Rotterdam for many bands. Besides all this he is also a very gifted guitar player and gearhead. He owns a big part of our ever growing gear list. Anyway! If you want a sweet as fuck guitar tone or a well balanced mix/master, he’s your go to guy.
